Description

Inspired by Hydnellum peckii, a unique fungus native to North America, Europe, Iran, and South Korea, this piece invites viewers to consider the beauty and unease found in the natural world. In its early stages of growth, the fungus draws excess water through its roots and forces it to the surface, producing vivid, blood-red droplets of sap that have earned it the nickname of "bleeding tooth fungus." This phenomenon was reimagined within the surreal setting of a dentist examination to transform a scientific curiosity into an unsettling visual narrative.

This work was selected for the 2026 edition of Synbiosis, an exhibition and fundraiser that proudly showcases the fusion of art and synthetic biology created by Montreal artists.
